How to Choose the Best Colour for Your Kitchen Cabinetry

One of the most important decisions you will have to make when deciding on your new kitchen design, is the colour of your kitchen cabinetry. Since it makes up a big part of your kitchen design, it is important that you get it right. With all the different options to choose from in the market today it can become a bit overwhelming. We’re here to help you cut down the many options you’re presented with, so you can find the perfect colour for your kitchen.

Consider the colour of your walls, floor and ceiling

Although your kitchen units and doors will be your main consideration here, it is important to not disregard the colour of your walls, floor, and ceiling, as you would in any other room of the house. Your walls may be tiled or painted in a colour that doesn’t complement the shade of your new kitchen cupboards. So, it may be necessary to switch up the design before the installation. Alternatively, you can use this to your advantage and pick a hue that fits right in with your existing colour.

Does the colour of your appliances fit?

As well as eyeing up the colour of your existing walls, floor and ceiling, it is important to take note of any appliances you have too. Usually, modern kitchen appliances are metallic silver or black. However, if you’d like a more “retro” looking room, you may want your appliances to be of a more outlandish shade, that contrasts nicely with the colour of your kitchen cabinetry. Either way, it is important to think about the colour of your existing appliances, or the appliances you are interested in if creating a whole new kitchen. This will allow you to narrow down your choices to a selection that you will be happy with.

Do you feel comfortable in the room?

This is arguably the most important factor to consider when choosing new kitchen cabinetry. After all, you will want to spend as much time as possible in your new kitchen, and you’ve likely spent a pretty penny upgrading it too! To feel comfortable in your kitchen, you will want to pick a colour that you’ll be happy with for years to come. Even if that means not considering your existing walls and appliances and going for something totally unique!

Those are there as a guideline, but as long as you feel happy with your surroundings then who are we to tell you what you can and can’t include in your dream kitchen?
